You are managing a heavy equipment manufacturing project that involves many mechanical, electrical as well as IT staff. Your team prepared a schedule network diagram using duration estimates with dependencies and constraints. Your team also calculated the critical path for the project using late and early values. Today, your project office has indicated about the non-availability of some of the resources you planned for the project. Now, you explore the possibility of modifying the schedule to account for limited resources. What is your best possible step in such a situation?
A. Recalculate critical path using the critical chain method
B. Perform resource leveling to account for limited resources
C. Use crashing or fast tracking to level resources across the project
D. Apply leads and lags to develop a viable schedule

Hi,
Hi,
The question says less number of resources which is a clear indication of critical chain method. First line from PMPBOK 5 on critical chain method. "The critical chain method (CCM) is a schedule method that allows the project team to place buffers on anyproject schedule path to account for limited resources and project uncertainties".
Hope this helps.

Hi Prakavi
agreed with you still from this sentence:"Now, you explore the possibility of modifying the schedule to account for limited resource"
why cant it be resource levelling...
It applies the resource constraints to the project and may result in change in project duration.
so here there is also a chnage in scedule right..so why cant we say resource leveling?

Hi,
Hi,
Change in project duration is not the main criteria here. when resources are are limited which can be applied.?Resource levelling will change the critical path too. As per microsoft project "You might decide to use resource leveling when you look at your schedule and see that you have one or more resources that are allocated at more than their Max Units values for a given time period (or periods). Hope this helps
