CAPM Preparation

Hi PM Gurus,

I am very much intrested in becoming a PM and finally decided to start from PMI certification- CAPM. I am very happy to i found this wonderful group where i can seek help from experts.

I have checked my eligibilty am planning to take exam on July 27th. Just before PMI starts with PMBOK 5th edition. Please can you give me some valuable advice.

What all books do i refer? Please suggest good books that is a must to read for CAPM (Currently i have PMBOK 4th edition which i will read for 2-3 times)

Where do i find chapter-wise exam simulators?- My plan is i would study 1 chapter and take as much test as i can based on that chapter

Any suggestions how, how much, what to study? I am planning to study for 2 hours a day for next 2.5 months and 5 hours on weekends.

Please shower me some thoughts and guide me. Looking forward for your valuable advice.

  • Apart from PMBOK, cover RITA's guide.
  • In RITA guide, you will find practice questions at the end of every chapter
  • Expect 35-40 questions on TTIO (Tool, Technique, Input and Output).
  • CAPM is a test of your memory.
  • Expect straight-forward/simple questions related to cost e.g. EV, PV etc.
  • Everybody has its own learning curve, however, on high-level, 2 hours per day for next 2 months seems sufficient.
  • Go through as many mock tests as possible.

Just few questions. I have PMP-Exam prep by Rita - this will work for CAPM as well?

Do you suggest any mock test- both free and paid if i need to buy.

Yes Sudarshan....Rita's book works for CAPM as well.

  • I suggest both: Couple of paid tests and alot of free mock tests.
  • I tried SIMPLILEARN and it is good
  • However, I have seen many people suggesting PMSTUDY, so, you can go for it
  • For free mock tests, you need to read some old posts on PMZILLA itself. There are many links provided by others.
  • On CAPM exam, you'll find many one-line questions.
