Preparation:

1.

Started preparing in Nov 2011 and continued to spend at least 2 hours daily during weekdays and 4 hours across during weekends.

2.

Religiously read PMBOK 4th edition and Rita Mulcahy 7th edition – twice.

3.

Practice the sample tests as said above and with all patience went thru each wrong answer and corrected my gaps.

4.

Download PMP apps on my Smartphone and read the same during my leisure and commute.

5.

Followed the blogs as said above read all valuable lessons learn.

Key Points:

1.

Do not under estimate PMP exam. It will try to pull out all your real time PM skills.

2.

PMBOK 4th edition is a key resource to pass PMP and other material will help you to make your concepts clear and firm.

3.

ITTO are most important and need to understand what and when the things happen.

4.

Understand each concept thoroughly as each one of them is interrelated.

5.

On exam I did not get many questions where I need to use calculator. I mean to say don’t worry about questions related to formulas.

6.

Got many questions on ITTO where I need to identify in a situation discussed.

7.

On the day of exam make yourself relax and give your best try. As you read the question, put yourself into PM shoes and think twice when you choose a choice.

8.

Each topic and concept is equally important from PMP exam perspective, the reason behind is that most of the questions will try to mix all the concepts, and expect us to answer what a PM will do in a given situation.

9.

Most of the sample tests will be simple and straight forward – in case of actual PMP exam we will have lengthy questions which will take good amount of time to read and answer. Prepare for it.
