Cleared PMP

Cleared my PMP today with 2 P( Initiation and Planning) and 3 MP ( Execution, M&C and Closure).

A big thanks to PMzilla members whose experience helped was very helpful.

Study plan

1.

Study the PMBOK

2.

Read Rita and attempted end of the chapter questions

3.

Took practice exams (PMZILLA 30 questions, Exam Central, PMstudy ( By far the best), Edwel programs)

4.

Referred to deepfriedbrain.com for clarification on topics

5.

Took more practice tests

6.

Studied PMBOK 2 more times

7.

Studied Rajesh Nair’s notes

Lessons Learned:

a.

Trying to memorize ITTO does not help. I tried asking my self what would I do in such situations and the answers came naturally ( Only effort was to understand definition of the process)

b.

My focus was on Tools and Technologies but realized that Input and Outputs are equally important

c.

Only PMBOK is not enough there are questions from outside as well

d.

Formulae and CPM analysis are critical

Another interesting thing that I observed was that no one in this forum talks about the 35 hours of PDU. I realized that these 35 hours are really useful to set a good foundation for the exam.

 Congratulations !!!

Can you please tell how much time did you take to prepare. I am taking my exam in June, not sure how my preparation looks like. Also where did you complete your 35 contact hours from?

I started my preparation in the Christmas holidays. So it took me 4 months to complete my preparation. The flow of preparation was often disturbed by work commitments, but I made sure that I studied every day (even if it was one page).

For the 35 contact hours I relied on my companies tie up with skill soft. I must say that the material was really useful. The practice questions they provided very in line with the questions in the exam and even the training was beneficial in understanding the key concept.

Are there multiple choice questions on the exam?

More than one choice is correct..

Please let me know.

I mean questions like this (See Choice E)

152) Cost of quality is a concept that includes:

  1. the cost necessary for ensuring conformance to requirements

  2. the life cycle cost of the project

  3. all research and development costs related to the project

  4. only the cost of the quality control function

  5. A and B

No, should have only one correct out of 4.
