A Pareto chart is named after Pareto’s Law that states that a relatively small number of causes will typically produce a large majority of the problems or defects. This is commonly known as the 80/20 rule, where 80% of the problems are due to 20% of the causes.

  • Pareto Diagram used in “Plan Quality” process as an improvement in processes, if past project historical records provide indication of vital few corrective areas.
  • Pareto Diagram is included in “Control Quality” as a tool then it is used as a corrective action for the current project to improve work products and processes.

So it can be used in both.

Dear Admin'

Thanks for replying. Here I want to know how this technique can be used in "Quality Assurance" as mentioned in Rita's Book.
