Lessons Learnt - Passed on 1st attempt Oct 10th,2014

Just wanted to pass on a few tips from my experience:

I will start with the books/apps that I used.

- PMBOK, there is no getting around this one. If you study this a few times over, understand the concepts then the chances of you passing is pretty good. I would avoid memorizing - some of the tools and techniques are useful to remember, but other than that the key is to understand how the processes work with each other.

- RITA Mulcahy, this book is pretty wordy and I didn't study all of it or go too much into depth but its a good book and definitely helpful. Lots of good tips on how to answer questions, especially situational ones. If I had more time, I would definitely invest more time in it. Try to get this if you can.

-PMSTUDY, here I am specifically talking about the end of chapter questions. They have lots of them and I would often work on them on my iphone before hitting the bed. Convenient and very good. The final exams are also pretty good and resemble the actual exam.

-BrainBok, they have a really cool ITTO interface and is excellent for summarizing. I highly recommend it.

Again, the above worked for me and you might not need all of the resources but definitely read the PMBOK a few times over. Initially I would finish 1 chapter a day or sometimes a little over a day - but by the end of it I was going through 3 chapters a day. Make a schedule, break up the sections - {first 4 chapters, then {Scope Time Cost}, {Quality, HR, Comms}, {R P S}.Try and stick to it as much as possible.

I thought I was well prepared but was also a little weary since I never really had the patience to complete 200 questions :) The more you solve the mock tests, I am sure the better you will feel. The last 2 weeks, it would be ideal to attempt a lot of questions.

Good luck!!!

All the best for your future endeavors!

Congratulations...
