Submitted by tzafrir on Sat, 06/18/2011 - 07:44
Hi,
I read Rita's part when she explain about the float calculation (LS,ES,LF,EF) in the CPM, but I can't understand the calculation.
Can someone pls give any reference (tutorial would be good) that explain in SIMPLE way how to do that ?.
Thanks,
Ben

Simple way to calculate float
In case you have been provided with the ES,EF,LS,LF values of an activity in the network diagram or in the question, its very simple to calculate the float of that activity by using either of the following formulae:
Total Float of an activity is: EF - ES
or
Total Float of an activity is: LF - LS
Note: That is why the activities on the critical path have the same values of LS & LF or ES & EF so their float becomes equal to ZERO according to the above formulas.

Umer what you have given is WRONG bcoz it gives duration...
Umer what you have given is WRONG bcoz it gives duration of the activity
and NOT total float as you claimed. Please don't confuse the PMZilla audience, and
also please check your concepts again...!
