Need Verification on a Question

A project manager divides the project into smaller components. What are these components called?

A.      WBS

B.      Subprojects

C.      Activity durations

D.      Define activity

I read somewhere that when a project is broken down into (WBS) each small activity becomes project of its own, so my answer would be B. Could the answer be A and if it is why? Can some please explain?
