quick Q-exam tomorrow

I thought "Obtain acceptance by the customer or sponsor" is done in the verify scope.
But it is under Closing Process Group in the PMBOK page64. Is verify scope an internal verification/acceptance?

Verify Scope = Formal Acceptance
As per the PMBOK 4, Verify scope is just "formalizing acceptance of the completed project deliverables". This means that we are just getting an formal acceptance / reviewing with customer but not signoff.
Actual Acceptance is done during Closing.
Verify Scope is not an internal activity.
In PMBOK5, this has been renamed to "Validate Scope".
Hope this clarifies your doubt. Others can correct me if I am wrong.

Just my 2 cents: Verify
Just my 2 cents:
Verify Scope is not an internal activity. It involves the customer's/sponsor's presence. The customer DOES formally sign-off at the deliverable level (page 125, PMBOK 4). This acceptance is low level, detailed, product/deliverabe acceptance.
The acceptance you are referring to on page 64 would be a higher level (i.e. project/phase level) acceptance.

Think of "verify scope" as a check of the *interim* deliverables by the customer, and "close project" as getting a final acceptance of the customer of the project as a whole, including the final deliverables.
