Your project no longer ties with company's objectives.
Your project no longer ties into the company's objectives. What is the best thing to do?
a. Change the CPI.
b, Change the target opportunity cost.
c. Decrease the cost.
d. Extend the schedule.
My answer is C or D.
Why "C" . Since we know that the project is kind of scrap or not of much importance so before delaying the schedule we must bring down fixed cost to a minimum level so that sponsor doesnt have to pay much for what he/she is not getting in near future. Wierd my imaginataion...lol...
...
Why "D" . We should think optimistically and extend the schedule believing customer will not scrap the project and would ask me to start it again. So much of optimisim.... but I do not know how long do I need to extend the schedule so before I get to know this I should cut down some cost.
Correct Answer is D and below is the explaination.
Be very careful, as this simple question may uncover many gaps in your knowledge. The question is really asking, "The project priority has become lower, what should you do?" Although projects should relate to the company's objectives, many do not. Why would you decrease costs? In order to decrease costs, you must decrease scope or quality. Nothing here indicates this is required. You are still chartered to do the same project. One cannot arbitrarily change the CPI; the CPI changes based on changes in project performance. Target opportunity cost is a made-up term. The only correct choice is to extend the schedule and allow flexibility to accommodate the delays and other risks a low priority adds to the project.
