What am I missing?

 Hey everybody,

Attempted the PMP exam for my first time last month. Result = FAIL. 2 MP and 3 BP.

Initiate = BP

Planning = MP

Executing = BP

Monitor and Control = BP

Closing = MP

I took the exam lightly, didnt use my scrap paper at all during the exam.

Materials and study sessions was basically just Rita's book, read once or twice, test results first time were around 70%, second time around between 80-90%.

Second attempt at the PMP exam, after another month of focusing on improving. Result = FAIL. 4MP and 1 BP.

Initiate = MP

Planning = MP

Executing = BP

Monitor and Control = MP

Closing = MP

I was sooooooo sure that I was going to pass this time around. Read through many PMzilla pages and lessons learned from other experiences. Read HeadFirst book, bought some flash cards from Velociteach (PMP definitions and ITTO). Downloaded Nair's notes. Memorized the math formula's needed and dumped them on the scratch paper. I felt good answering the questions and was thought it was pretty easy and straight forward this time.

I seriously dont know whats going on!  I have to try again and pass this test before they change it up for the updated version. I dont have much time left before the next and final exam!

Any suggestions, advice, tips?

I'm interested in knowing how some people study or train for just a few days and they pass with flying colors while others take many weeks and months yet fail.

 BTW one question that really bothers me that I saw both times didnt mention the correct answer from the options

It said something like:

Project ABC

PV=250

AC=200

EV=150

A.) Project is under budget and behind of schedule

B.) Project is under budget

C.) Project is behind schedule

D.) Project is over budget and ahead of schedule

I did the calculations right, this project is both over the budget and behind schedule but thats not an option!

 You use a wrong logic. "Project is behind schedule" doesn't tell you that it is under budget. Is the project behind the schedule? Yes.

If the question is close to real question I would advise to change it or to delete.

 I think the question must have more clues to pick the right answer....if it is real question....can you paste the complete question and source of the question..i mean which mock exam it is from

If the question is correct, the only answer which is partially corrrect is answer C (behind schedule).

 Question is from real exam and answer is C.. rest all choices are wrong
