Passed PMI-PMP on 14th Feb-14
HI Friends
I have passed my PMP exam yesterday with 3P's and 2 MP's.
I still remember my 1st post written on 21st-Dec-13 last year when i failed in the exam during my 1st attemt. I was down and dusted and not able to digest this failure.
Herecomes the friends in PMzilla who motivated me to go for the exam for the 2nd Time and kill it.
I would like to thank each and every one specially the admin for creating such a wonderful platform.
Below are the LL:
Important ones :
1. Read PMBOK 5 word by word 2 times
2. RITA 8 2 times
3. Given Practice tests PMstudy & secured 75% in all 4 tests. Was referring to PMBOK and RITA in case any question goes wrong to fill in the knowledge gaps.
4. Practice tests of my companay Skill soft which was quite tough.
4. Given only knowledge area tests for PMfast track 8.( 60-80 questions instaed of all / knowledge area.
Most Important LL( My observation)
1. I will sound bit stupid but please have a sound sleep before the night of an exam, otherwise sitting 4 hrs will be very touch for you and you might feel sleepy and coulnt not be able to concentrate on the exam.
2. if you have even 10% doubt that you dont know the correct choice, please mark the question and move on the next ones.
3. Pl prepare well for the below mentioned topics as the exam ask pretty straight forward questions. I can bet you will be able to answer 20-25 questions correctly.
... EVM/EVM cost formulas
--- S Curve
--- HR theory
--- Tuckman ladder
-- Cost of quality
-- 7 basic tools
--- Conflict : all touch situational questions so prepare throughly.
--- Types of contracts( 4-5 questions)
--- Calculation for communication channels.
4. Generally it happens that you might get long/touch questions during the starting of the exam. Dont panic, keep on marking these questions and move ahead. you will later realize that easy questions will start coming which will boost your confidence and you will back on track.
5. Some questions are so easy to answer, so dont worry answer the correct answer. no need to double check and waste your time. PMI ask does ask those easy questions.
6. last but not the least please please read questions carefully or else there is a strong chance you may answer 20-30 questions incorrerct. so pay attention and concentrate on the question. ( you will see question will start talking abouty time management and asking some IITO on quaility management. distracter information).
7. Also there is no concrete study plan, so develop your own.
8. This is a touch exam but can be passed on 1st attempt itself there is no shortcut to sucess in the exam. keep this in mind.
9. Coming to practice tests, PMstudy is the closest one. I have bought 60 dollar 4 tests pack for 12 days.
Thanks everyone for there valuable inputs and pl feel free in case anybody wants information/support.
Regards
Tushar
