Passed 15th August 2014 Australia - LL's

Hi all, so thought Id give something back to anyone reading and wondering what theyre in for! Have been a long time lurker on the forum and first time poster :-)

With a busy family life and not many brain cells left after a days work I started in April off and on with Ritas 8th Edition (a must as a foundation). PMBOK was just too dry for me. Read Rita cover to cover & did the exercises and then a month back started hitting any practise exam I could find. Oliver, Headfirst, Scordo, PMstudy x 4. Think I did around 1500 to 2k questions in the end, mostly scoring 70-75% and tried to understand what I got wrong in each case.

Anyway enough about me - here's what I thought
- pacing yourself is a must. The EV questions you sit on for 2-3 minutes get cancelled out by the 2 liners that take 5 seconds but overall have to do 50 Q's per hour no excuses and have time for a drink and food halfway
- saw lots of S-curves which are pretty logical if you know the meaning behind formulas
- lots of risk, Tuckman
- not many ITTO (lucky since soooo boring) the ones there were straight forward
- lots of tricky wording so understanding what process youre in is a must
- millions of change process and scope questions
- shouldve learnt more about precedence diagramming since didnt have a clue when asked about FS, SF, FF in a diagram! Note to self but not many q's so was ok.

The rest was a bit of a blur, got 4MPs and 1BP which wasnt fantastic but a reflection I think on my practise test scores and the fact that its a full-on exam. Wouldve preferred much more margin for safety but thats life. Job done and can now catch up on some gaming :-)

Good luck!

Congratulations on your PMP. Thanks for sharing. !

Congrats..!

Many congratulations Bthom for your success and thanks a lot for sharing your LL.

I do have the following questions if you don't mind:

A) How many times did you read Rita cover to cover?
B) Did you read PMBOK cover to cover?

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi there, Rita I read once but literally everything over a few months so it soaked in.

PMBOK I referred to more once I started practise tests to fill in any gaps. Didnt actually read it through but it does cover a few things Rita doesnt

Many Congratulation to you for passing ,with in such a short span of preparation.
