Passed my PMP today- First attempt
I cleared my PMP exam - first attempt - today.
Step 1: My preparation was essentially centered around Rita Mulcahy's notes. I gave it one complete read ( took me about 5 days).
Step 2: After that I went thro' the process flow as detailed by Ricardo Vargas. (Check the youtube - this guy's methodology is simple and effective) This was a good study method. It gave me a clear logical flow of the 42 processes. Once I did that things began falling in perspective. So I would like people to definitely try this.
Step 3: Regarding the ITTO - I would suggest people to really understand the ITTO for each process. I would not suggest simply memorising it. As you go through the ITTO, use the PMBOK to refer for explanation for each of the process. PMBOK is not that dry to read as I first imagined it to be. But I began to appreciate it only after going thro' step 1 and 2.
Exam day: Tried hard to stay relaxed and before taking the exam,
You get a 15 minute tutorial to begin with. Rush thro this and use the remaining time to prepare your scratch sheet.
The the real exam starts immediately. The questions in PMP test were not such longwinded as some of the forums claim it to be. The questions were quite straighforward and with a sincere preparation, one should have no difficulty.
I finished the exam in about 3 hours time - did not rush at all. Then I spent 15 minutes to review some of the marked questions ( less than 10 for me). After that hit the END TEST button.
Immediately I was then taken to a short survey questionnaire with 9 questions asking me about my exam experience ( Wrong place to put the questionnaire I felt, at that point, as my pulse was racing)
Then those magic words slowly emerged - CONGRATULATIONS - You have passed.
I am happy man today.
All the best for future test takers.
