Passed PMP on 23rd April 2014

Finally this day has come to my life to write my LL on Passing PMP

Yesterday I passed PMP with  4MP and 1P score.

1. Initiation - MP

2. Planning - MP

3. Execution - P

4. Monotoring and Control - MP

5. Closing - MP

I would like to thank all you guys because you were my inspiration during study time.

Special thanks to Yogesh Sachdeva ( pmpmentorfor guiding me not to reschedule my exam.

I started preparing for PMP in the last week of Feb , prior to this week I gathered all information for this exam with study material required on PMZilla.

I read PMBOK and RITA - You should study both the books because there are some points which are covered in RITA are not in PMBOK and vice-a-versa.

Best ways to clear your knowledge gaps are :

1. Appy these concepts in your real world PM practices if your company is not using PMI processes.

2. Solve as many questions as possible.

3. Create your own questions around a topic.

Practice Tests :

This is one of the most confusing stand to take for PMP for most of aspirants to which Practice tests to choose.

Please remenber these practice tests are to make your movementum and to fill your knowledge gaps

I wrote Free Exams like PMSTUDY , EXAM Central , PMPFORSURE , my scores on these exams were very average , infact I wrote one post two weeks before on PMZIILLA  http://pmzilla.com/should-i-go-pmp with a dialemma to reschedule my exam. But one thing for sure in PMP the language of the questions differes with your practice tests ; there you need to analyse the situation and for that you need to be clear on your concept. So Practice tests are these to set your level of preparation and fill you gaps. So please dont take it too lightly and too seriously also....Just go , have a confident in you and write a test ( Daar ke aage Jeet Hain Dosto )

Real PMP Exam :

My test centre was Mumbai Goregoan , I went there one day advance and took a hotel to relax. Because I would like to avoid the last movement pressure of travelling from Pune , Finding test centre and in such a warm and humid environment. Took a good sleep before exam night , have a good breakfast and then went on to test centre.

At the test centre you are allowed to take only your identity and exam confirmation receipt print. You will be provided with a locker where you need to keep all your valuables like phone , watch , wallet etc.

You are allowed to take eatables but have to keep outside the examination room. There is small verification process and inspection before you are into the exam room.

Avoid taking breakes as there is checking process when you come back from the break and it cost you time on the exam ; however relax on the chair itself.

I found questions on below topics on the exam.

1. Risk Responce Stratergies - 5 Nos.

2. Quality assurance / controls- 4 Nos.

3. Charter / Framework - 3 Nos.

4. Critical path / PDM / CCM - 8 Nos.

5. Tuckman's  Ladder - 4 Nos.

6. Input / Out Put - 3 Nos.

and so on...............

At the last again thank you so much Much PM Zilla.

Hope this certification will take my career to other level.

At the moment Happy Happy Happy ................very Happy !!!

Thanks Ganesha ......!!

Cheers Guys and all the best to you too .............!!

Pravin , PMP.

Well ..first things first.. congrats
Reading your post made me take a decision against postponing my exam.
But most importantly. . I request some inputs from you on the logistics part. I too live in pune and plan to go to mumbai a day earlier. Not sure whichis the best option to reach goregaon from wakad.
Also. I have shortlisted lucky hotel and laxmi intl as I found online that they are pretty near to the cente. Which one did you check in?

On the exam part.. did you get questions on ethics depreciation PTA as these are not in pmbok 5

Thanking in advance

hello Bhatta,

you can take bus or Train from Pune (Station or Shivajinagar) and reach Dadar.

From Dadar Goregoan is about 40 min travel with local. As you reach Goregoan Rail Station , you can find many gud hotels like Woodland , Segals , Nice etc. I took nice as it was good with AC and at cheaper cost.

From here Our test centre is around 15 min drive with Auto where you have to go to gate no. 2 which is near Moods hotel.

All d best for your exam.

Hi Pravin,

My exam is scheduled at 8922 test centre in Goregaon, Mumbai. I wanted to know if you were also having the same test centre and how was your experience. I mean how was the staff, environment etc?

Strange thing about my registration was on the site it was showing as 8921 test centre and in email confirmation it is showing as 8922.

Any help with respect to this would be highly appreciated.

Regards

Jerry

Hello Jerry,

Yes mine was also the same test centre.

Actually yes the test centre no.has been changed but the location is the same. It is located near Goregoan Rail Station ; off Savalkar Bridge which is connection Goregoan West and East.

Its a good test centre in Balwa Group Building with a nice envoirnment , you dont need to worry about staff , as in they are secondary to your exam. Still they are nice and co-operating.

In the test centre building no canteen facility is available ; so please get eatables from outside for your exam.

You are allowed to keep those eatables outside the test room which you can access during your break.

Try to go to test centre at least 1Hr. prior to the scheduled time in-order to relax yourself in a AC.

If you have any doubts or concerns you can contact me on 9823322707

All the best.

Cheers !!

Hi Pravin,

That is really nice of you to share your personal contact no. I would surely get in touch with you incsae I need additional details. My plan is to travel on Sat to my Parents house in Neral which is quite far away from Goregaon. I have planned to book the same Nice Hotel & will checkin on Sunday. I have scheduled my exam for Monday 8AM.

Till that time, I am going to revise PMBOK again, and will try to give 1-2 mock exams.

Regards
