Passed PMP in 2nd Innings - Thanks to PM ZILLA
CONGRATULATIONS !
This word never seemed so beautiful until I read it on my screen at the end of the PMP Exam, when results were generated. My heart must be pounding at 200 as if it is going to X-plode. My sincere thanks to the PM Zilla forum. This website initiators must really be congratulated for putting in so much of material that I personally feel you do not need any paid sites to really clear this exam.
Let me give you a brief study plan as the way it worked for me.
First attempt I read PMBOK 4th edition completely but lots of questions lingering around me as I do not come from an IT background. Most of the work I have been doing was surrounding the PMBOK guidelines but could'nt really get into the depth of it. Then I referred Rita's. This book is amazing and I felt is a must for all PMP aspirants. The book has all the ingredients of a fairy tale book in the sense it makes you understand the PMBOK in a very simple and effective way. This is a must for all the so called not so confident guys out there. You may be good at work but terminology is important. Then I took some sample tests where initially I could not clock the 4Hr. deadline but eventually did the exams in 3.15 - 3.30Hrs getting a score of 65% - 75%. I was pretty confident but could not make it through this attempt.
Second attempt I booked the exam for the following month as this month was the last of the 4th edition. I again started preperation but this time referred PM Zilla. I almost did a research you could tell on every comments made by several people who have passed and also failed in PMP. This gave me the Inputs to understand why?, This site gave me more information than any other books could give. I started with the PMBOK. I knew the mistakes I had made and the areas I had to improve on. So this time I made sure I got thorough with the Execution and Controlling processes as most of your questions are from this area. I would rather say if your are 100% prepared in this ITTO's you do not have to worry about clearing this exam. Refer Only PMBOK ( I strongly recommend ) as all the questions you get will be only from this book. Now go back to Rita's and see if you can answer all the questions given at the end of each Knowledge areas as this gives you the idea of how much you have studied and how much you can remember. If in doubts go back and refer PMBOK again and again as long as you are confident. Mind you there is no shortcut, this is the only way to pass the exam. Do ot worry much about the Problems as they are very simple and mostly about 15Q's overall
To be Honest I do not know about the other books but definitely would recommend these sites. There is no harm in taking as many sample tests you can but remember that all 200 questions should be completed iin 3hrs as the real PMP exam is much more higher in standards than all these sample questions.

Once you finish the sample test do not forget to go through the answers which were wrongly marked. It means that you have not understood the question. It is directly related to the situation unlike any engineering or other exams.
TIPS
- Read PMBOK once - You may not understand all of it but get familiarised with the book
- Buy Rita's and go through the book thoroughly - you must understand all aspects
- Go back to PMBOK - Now you will undetstand what the book explains.
- Start taking the sample test at this phase you will no where you stand
- Go through the PM Zilla Forums they are the best guides you will find free of charge.
- Get back to Rita's Questions at the end of the Knowledge Areas- make sure you know everything there.
- PMBOK as many times as you can - ITTO's is a must if you neglect it forget passing the exams.
All the best Get ready for the Party, I had all the night.
