Passed PMP on Nov 22nd

Hello All,

I passed PMP on Friday, Nov 22nd. Exam is not difficult but at the same time it is also not easy..With focused and regular preparation of 1.5 to 2 months will get you through this exam smoothly..

Books and references that I used

1) Rita PMP exam guide

2) PM Fast track

3) PMBOK

4) Christopher Scordo - 18 practise tests

5) Edwel - Knowledge area questions at the end of each chapter

My recommendations for prep are as below

1) Read Rita twice cover to cover

2) When you are reading Rita second time, also read the corresponding chapter from PMBOK

3) After 3 passes (2 from Rita and one from PMBOK, then take 4 hour practise test using PM Fast track

4) Make note of your weak areas and study them from PMBOK. Shift your focus completely on PMBOK and continue to skim through the knowledge areas that you consider strong/comfortable

5) Take 30-40 questions from EDWEL or Rita on the knowledge areas that you consider you are weak

6) Then schedule another 4 hour practise exam

7) If you are consistently scoring above 70% in all practise tests and 4 hour exam, then you are ready to take the actual exam

8) Pass the exam and CELEBRATE

Hope this helps

Beyond this I cannot discuss the exam questions as it is confidential.

Knowing No. of questions in the above isted will not help anyone pass.. I would strongly recommend to be through with all knowledge areas and formula related questions. The exam covers both depth and breadth..and the questions are very well formulated..Good Luck!!

Please comment on the Christopher Scordo - 18 practice tests.

1. How did you score?

2. Where these representative of test questions.

3. Would you recommend that everyone use these?

Christopher Scordo is a good check of PMBOK. The practise tests goes from easy to medium hard. I was scoring between 82 to 94% in practise tests 1 to 12..and then 78% to 84% in the next set..

Exam questions were somewhat different..Chritopher, PM Study, Oliver Lehmann and Rita..These should help you to pass the exam..

Also do only practise tests 12 to 18 from Christopher scordo..1 to 11 are too easy and doing that is a waste of time according to me..

Congratulations on passing the PMP exam! Thanks for the LL.

How is the difficulty level of Rita's book chapter-end questions in comparison to the real test? Pls tell.

Thank you. Easier compared to the exam..

Hi,

Congratulations on passing PMP.

Can you advise to go Rita's PMP exam prep 7th Edition to pass PMBOK 5th Edition?

I've purchased 7th Edition a while ago and desperately wanted to know spending another 6K to buy PMP Exam Prep 8th Edition.

Thanks

Raj Kannan

No major changes from 7th to 8th edition except for few nomenclature changes. Of course, you will not find the chapter on stake holder management in 7th edition, which you can read it from PMBOK 5. I felt this chapter really boring to read from Rita 8th edition. PMBOK 5 has covered it well and also consicely. My advise would be to search for the article that shows difference between PMBOK 4 and 5, in google. Go through that and you will be able to take a call yourself..My take on this is with Rita 7th edition and PMBOK V, you will still be able to pass with good preparation..There are also free books that you can download from the sites..EDWEL and HeadFirst are free and they have aligned their content to PMBOK 5..
