Passed PMP on second attemp
Hi,
Today I passed my PMP exam on the second atempt. I want to take this oportunity to thank all the participants on this forum who were pivitol to my success today. I have learned a lot and derived a lot of inspiration from the lessons learned posted here. The tricks and comments are invaluable to the prepartion process. Frankly speaking I was not expecting to pass this time since I was disheartened by the first attempt that I took in Feb this year. I had read cover to cover PMBOK and Rita, attempted neumerous sample tests and was more confident then of passing than I was today. I guess today was my day. I passed with 3 MP, 1 BP and 1 P.
For all of those aspiring PMP's I would recommend visiting this site and learning from the experiences of people here.
Thank you all, I am truly endebted to all of you for this success.
Best regards,
Obaid.

What did you do differently
Hello - I too did not pass the 1st attempt and have scheduled for early december. I read PMBOK and used Rita book and bought Rita full use of Tests via online. Please let me know your process for passing on the 2nd attempt. I just want to compare notes.
thank you

Hi
Well, frankly speaking my second effort was considerably less than my first one in which I did not pass. I appeared the first time in Feb, did a lot of preparation. This time around I only studied PMBOK (not even Rita), went through Rajaish Nair notes, and the book I got from my PMP boot camp last year. attempted almost all of the questions in PMPFastrack. Practised a lot to make sure I remain calm when I look at the question and the tips to read and understand the questions (read the last line first, and then start from the begining that way you will know what you need to look for in the question). I did not bother even trying to remmemer the ITTO's, I am horrible at cramming stuff. Just tried to visualize My over all preparation time was one month only, with the last 2 weeks were the ones where I put in maximum effort. I have a three year old at home who does not like to see me study so I stayed at the office 3-4 hours after work to make sure I get maximum out of the day. The exam was very tough, there were a lot of questions from EVM, quality and risk. 7-8 questions from responsibility and a lot of quesitons from planning group. There was one question in particular that was huge, I had to scroll down to read the question, the whole point was to calculate the float on critical path, which is zero. thats when the tip for reading the last line helped.
On the day of the exam, I cam down with flue (imagine the timing). I was having trouble concentrating and the exam room was freezing cold. Luckily I had read this somewhere on PMZilla to take my jacket along and that was a real life saver. Anyways, halfway I had to use the rest room, ran off and came back in a little more than 2 miutes. Finished all the quesitons with only 7 minutes for review. Sat back with my hands to the head, dont know what choices I made for the survey and then the 'congratulaitons' screen appeared. That was it. I could not beleive it. I sriously think I got lucky as I see the level of effort people put into this thing, I did not do even a fraction of that. At the end the result was good and I am happy to move on.
I hope this helps aspiring PMP's to pass.
Best regards,
Obaid.
