PMBOK Procurement Confusion

On page 317, the last line on first para says...

"the processes from Plan Procurement through Close Procurements are performed for each item to be acquired"

this sounds like if I have to procure multiple items/services for the project, then I need to have different Procurement Management Plan for each of those items/service

On page 326, the last line on first para says...

"However, multiple products or sevices can be grouped as one procurement item within a single SOW"

this tells again, if I have multiple procurements they can be combined...

Totally confused... Any help is really appreciated...

Hi vejandla,

Every procurement need to follow processes from Plan Procurement through Close Procurements and each procurement can consist of one or more services in it. It all depends upon relation with seller or type of services you want to procure. You may sometime combine related services in one Statement of work if it is meant for same seller.


So, you need to perform all processes from Plan Procurement through Close Procurements for each procurement which may consist of one of more services.

Well, these are my thoughts and seniors may correct me, if I am wrong.

Procurement Management Plan will be one, where we will define how to manage our procurements. and PSsOW might be many, even sometimes, for same PSOW, we cannot give more than $x value to a single seller s per ORG policy. Then you may need multple sellers for one SOW. Each PSOW will go thru Conduct to Close.
