PMI, PMBoK seventh edition, Jan 2013, any advice please

 Dear all, 

I am new to the forum, so let me thank each and everyone, as well as the moderators for such a great job. If there's any contribution needed in any form Other than keeping the forum going with our posts, I am more than happy to contribute. 

 

I have just started the journey of studying for my PMP exam. I have bought the latest edition of PMBOK, 2013 book, and Rita's latest edition which happens to be the sixth edition of Exam prep. 

Although so far the difference between Rita's and PMBoK is only a matter of page number referenced, I am worried that I may be missing sth. Or that this should not be the right way to go. 

 

What are your thoughts? 

Any exam tips or methodology of study would be greatly appreciated. 

I am a mum of three kids, and have just left my previous work in Australia, currently in London due to my husband's work. I have worked in Research and Development multiprojects in Australia as project manager. 

Hopefully, I will be passing the exam first time. I pray. Please send me some good karma.

Welcome Eda,

Yes your contributions are welcome and very much required too. The best thing you can do is to help people who post here, in which case you will learn with every reply you make. 

As for the methodology and tips, do read the forms post and LL here and you will get enough of them. If you can crack the exam before June 2013 go for PMBok 4th Edition or else start with PMboK 5th Edition

I am sure you will pass in first shot.

 Thank you so much for replying. I was getting worried that nobody wanted to talk to me:) 

thanks for providing valuable advice on PMBOk's edition. I intend to sit exam by May, so in this case then I would require the fourth edition. I must go and buy that one then:(

 Hi Eda,

In addition to Admin's response, I will advice you to combine Rita 7th edition with PMBOK 4th edition if taking the exam before July 31st.

The greatest source of knowledge and inspiration in PMZilla are the LLs. Please follow each LL and the various notes closely.

I am writing from personal experience. Good luck!.

 Oh Thanks for kind replying. I am freaking out while studying, sometimes I get a mental block! I feel like nothing's making sense, but it is. 

 

I am combining the two books and reading chapters in parallel. Thanks again.
