PM's Power

Do we get questions related to PM's power -Referent,Reward etc? They are not in PMBOK .Any inputs?

...in the exam, but most of the books have covered this topic, so there might be a question.....

It's not there in PMBOK but afa I can remember, I did come across an indirect question on this during my actual PMP exam.

Hello Sunita,

At first recalled a related topic in the PMBOK, 4th edition, p. 234, 9.3.2.6 "Recognition and rewards",

but don't find in PMBOK the terms  "referent" neither "expert"

Regards

You can find them in Rita.

G5 and G7, very little say about use of power.

I think PMBOK 4 , particularly , is not in favor of any division or type of PM personality or quality.

Though it is a relevant subject of management.

Motivation theories.are not given in pmbok, but PMP asks over it very obviously.

Like pmp asks about types of power of PM, so far in back 2-3 years is not recognised obviously.

I think it is good finding, which should be watched and further views should be quoted here from others.

Pawarji, I read somwehere that there can be upto 10% of questions regarding management terms which are not present in the PMBOK. Can it be true? The article had mentioned "journey to abilene" as an example.

In older days , such things were common as a part of exam.

But in recent years, exam content is almost around PMBOK and as per pmi publication -

http://www.pmi.org/en/Certification/Project-Management-Professional-PMP/...

There are lots of management terms.

But what we learn are those included in subject books, imposed by authors.

Because those authors have seen these terms in exams, in older days.

With us, It has been like a tradition or trend, but in real scenario, current examinations , have been left maximum part of those stuff.
