post poned the exam and feeling very low

Dear All,

I have been pushing myself to pass the PMP by 31st July 2013 but the scores i have recently got in various Mock tests made me change my mind and post pone the test.

I had below scores in last couple of days

Simplilearn 62%

PMStudy free test 65%

Techfaq 72%

Below are some of the scores i scored earlier on.

Scordo 14 – 67%

Scordo 18 – 62% (pretty low L – second round i scored much higher), i thought it was a bit tricky

PM Exam Simulator – Exam 1 – 67%

PM EXAM SIMULATOR -  EXAM 4 – 70%

Oliver Lehmann 75 - 73%     175- 69 %

PMZILLA 30 tough 60 %

I have realised and agree to someone who posted in one of the forum discussion, need to completely devote time to this or at least you should not be going through something major whilst preparing for PMP, i have loads going on work related and also in my personal life. Some people do manage it any given situation, some people can’t cope up with everything. After giving these tests i couldn’t give 100 % to follow up the questions answered incorrectly and build on my weak areas.

I am a bit disappointed in myself to post pone it but last two days getting scores of early 60s didn’t do any good to my confidence level and have postponed the exam. Now i am worried as i only have PMBOK4 th edition and wonder if Rita 7th edition is no longer that useful, i do understand its not completely out of date but do i really need to spend money and buy the 8th edition of Rita?

Thanks for the support guys, hopefully will get into exam mode soon.

Regards,

Vish

You just need some more practice, you are doinng well

Thanks admin, i have planned a new study plan and it is as below, i would be grateful if you could suggest/advise

......i am really hoping i am able to stick to this plan as i need this like everyone else.

Week 1-3 – thorough reading of PMBOK along with another book say Head First/Rita/Kim Heldman

Once this is complete give atleast two full mock test on a weekend. Mock Test 1+2

Week 4-6 – Address the weak areas, re-read the areas where you are weak. Make sure you understand the concept, ITTOS, Glossary and all the calculations as well during these weeks.

Again after 6th week give two more full mock tests – this time a bit harder one’s. Mock Test 3+4

Week 7-9 – Address the weak areas again and try and understand the pattern of your low scoring areas, basically try and get to the bottom of the confusion regarding concepts.

Another weekend and this time pls try and give really tough exams to develop meat.  Mock Test 5+6

Week 10-12 –Re-address the weak areas and start second round of PMBOK and Rita

Relax during the weekend

Week 13-15 – give full blown tests, one each day – if not possible to have 15 full blown tests, give at least 8-10. Read up on all of the slightly weak areas, by this stage i should have hopefully filtered out all of the weak areas and hopefully should be doing well Mock Test 7-16

Week 16-17 – Re-read PMBOK and Rita. Relax and give the exam

Hey,

Your study plan is good. Dont stress too much buddy. Be confident. Whatever scores you got above seems not so bad. As admin said little more practice would make you definite pass.. I was also nearly in the same range before I took the exam. But went and wrote confidently and got 4MP,1P. If you read the question carefully and apply whatever you have learnt you will easily pass. Good luck!

Thanks!

Raj

hi Raj,

Thanks a lot for your encouraging words, you are bang on when you say wrote confidently.....that was the problem with me as i had lost confidence just prior to the exam. But hopefully after good practice i'll regain the lost ground and hopefully succeed.

thanks and regards,

Vish

Your scores were better than mine.   I took it on 7/29 and passed.  Maybe barely but pass is pass.  I think you could have passed.

I didnt want to wait because i was afraid that PMBOK 5 might bring a new format and more processes to understand.

However, keep going with the momentum, dont slow down.   Your next post will be that you passed.

Ali

hi Ali,

Thanks for your kind and encouraging words, shall keep at it

regards,
