Preparation TIPS for PMP

 Dear Friends,

I am here to share few tips on how to prepare for PMP. Many of us might have read the LL posts  in this knowledgable forum.  Follow these tips:

1. First set your mind free from all sayings that PMP is Tough

2. To start with, first setup a goal to achieve PMP with in a duration of max of 2-3month and not beyond this. (If you drag the duration, you will never be able to focus on the GOAL of attaining PMP)

3. Set up a Plan. Chapters to be covered on daily and weekly basis corresponding to hours of investment.

4. Dont  get carried over with the feeling in you mind that PMP is very tough and PMBOK is boring. Plz  get this fear and feeling out from your mind. Nothing is impossible for a willing heart and and everything can be achieved with sincere dedication.

5. Start with reading HeadFirst. Max of 1- Week to 10days you can complete this book.

6. While reading the Headfirst prepare the notes.

7. Re-Read the topic if you did not understand it.

8. By now you might get clear idea of what the topics are there in PMP Exam.

9. Start reading PMBOK. Prepare notes as and when you read each line of the PMBOK.

10. Dont Ignore even a single line in PMBOK. Each line is important for us to understand.

11. Do not mug up things.

12. Just try to understand it, if you did not understand go back to headfirst and refer the same topic in it.

13. Still if it not clear google it you will find videos related to the same. But plz understand the topic from each and every bit of the sentence.

14. Initially it shall take some time to cover first reading of PMBOK. No issues since you are understanding the topic clearly then you can gear up for second time.

15. Now attempt one Mock exam and record your score .

16. Try to fill gaps based on the lowest scored topic by referring PMBOK.

17. Attempt one more mock exam. Record the score.

18. Re-Read the PMBOK once again and make sure you cover the Glossary section too .

19. Now prepare some tips for rememberance of  IITTOs .

20. Read them daily as you have daily your Tea/ Coffee. Spend min. of half hour to read the IITTOs and formulas daily.

21.  Try out min. of 300-400 questions on formula based.

22. Now appear for min of 10 mocks and on every mock check for your gaps and fill by referring only PMBOK. This way you will never forget the concept.

23. Now refer to Kim Heldman for Initiation and Closing

24. Attempt different mocks.

25. Do not attempt for any mock exam one week prior to exam. Just read Rajesh Nairs Notes and PMBOK once throughly. By now you will even remember the line number with respect to topic and Page number too.

26. Attempt the exam with relaxed mind. You will come out with flying colours.

If any of our friends have any valuable points to be added, they are welcome to do so.

The most important is we have such a worthy friend named "PMZILLA" and its valuable family members like Admin, Pawar Sir, KK and many more. We will definetly succeed in clearing the exam with all our freinds and familes best wishes.

The basic reason of posting this topic as many of us are scared of reading PMBOK and scared of PMP exam.

Vishwanath

 Dear Admin,

Thanks. Hope I had covered all the points.

Vishwanath

Good points Vishwanath.

Personal I don't agree with point no. 25.  Mock exams are very useful for retaining the knowledge and concepts and one should not stop taking mock tests in the last week.  I found it very very useful taking mocks during last week, it helped me in answering some questions correct during the actual exam.  At least one can refrain from taking tough mock tests during last week but should not stop taking tests at all.
