Professional responsibility
I have a doubt on Professional responsibility.
I know that if someone is doing anything unethical, we should report to the appropriate body. But what if someone informs me that he is thinking of doing something wrong, what should I do first ?
a) Should I report to PMI
b) Should I report to his/her manager
c) Should I report to my manager
d) Should I first tell him that he/she should not breach the PMI code of conduct.
I believe it should be D. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Note - This is not from any source. But similar to a question from PM Fastrack where I got confused. Unfortunately I did not have any option to see the correct answer.
One more doubt I have is on the cultural difference.
If One person who is from other country doesn't follow a required project process. For example as per his/her country law, he/she cannot come to office during for 10 days when you have urgent requirement. My primary concern is
should we mould our project laws according to one country's law ?
Should we insist to follow the project rules?
My personal view - We should have taken care of these things during planning and acquiringproject team. And should be clear on ground rules. And everyone should then follow the project rules. am I correct ?
Thanks,
Ashwin

If the wrong doing has not
If the wrong doing has not been done, then its best to discuss with the person and explain that it maybe unethical. If the person is still adament and wants to continue doing uneithical things, you can inform the manager so that using some authority the action can be stopped.

Also in all practical cases,
Also in all practical cases, project laws will have to be moulded as per the law of the country in which you are operating in. you are right in saying that it should be taken care of during the planning phase of the project.
