Questions on Rita's Process Chart
Submitted by Palmtree on Fri, 04/26/2013 - 18:08
I'm studying Rita's process chart against ITTO, and can't understand the below two questions:
1. Why is "divide large projects into phases" the 4th step in this process, even before "understand the business case"? I suppose it's an output. What's the input for that, and what T&T is used? I think it would make more sense to move it right before the "develop project management plan".
2. Why is "Product product scope" after "Execute the work according to the PM plan"? Isn't product scope defined in scope define phase?
Thank you!

That's her strategy. I found
That's her strategy. I found her Process Chart very confusing and decided to skip it. Better to stick to the source from where the exam is going to be asked aka PMBOK

Hi Palmtree, you are correct.
Hi Palmtree, you are correct. Check out page 40 of Rita's book. She clearly mentions that only the planning process must be memorized in the specific order. The work in the other process groups does not have a set order.
Regarding point 2 - you have misunderstood the "Produce product deliverables" process. It does not equate to "defining scope". Define scope is a planning process. "Produce product deliverables" refers to producing the deliverables (for example, developing the software or creating a prototype).
Hope this makes sense.
