Reading the PMBOK and Ritas Book

How long should I expect it to take to read the PMBOK 1st and then Ritas Book.  How long to read a chapter per night

Not sure of the hours, as its going to vary for each person. But I would suggest that you read Rita's book first and then PMBOK.

If you are totally new to PMP and not much project experience I would suggest read HeadFirst PMP first , Keep PMBoK Along side and read a chapter from Head First and then from PMBoK. After this iteration you can do the same with Rita and PMBoK.

Rita's book has many Rita'isms like process chart, dont worry about memorizing or remembering all of that, just understand the concepts, reasoning for doing certain things the certain way.

In fact if people really try to understand the rationale, they will score good in mock test, straight away.

As a general advice, start with good reference books for PMP preparations to understand project management, once you get used to project management get deep into PMBOK and only PMBOK if your target is PMP exam.

How much you want to study at night, its better you find this answer yourself, I would rather prefer to sleep at night. A working person can easily dedicate around 2 hours of time daily for PMP exam preparations. As per your habit, find out the best suitable time and plan your ways.
