For 2 it seems, all of the answers seems to be either inputs or outputs, atleast performance reports is a output for sure, others are not on the list but part of work performance information. Variance analysis is a tool.. So not sure what the answer is

Also would like hear explanation about 7. Sunk costs are costs spent and cannot be recovered. Answers referring to sunk costs do not give picture of how much project would cost., Hence , i chose one with least life cycle cost..Let me know if u think otherwise

Hi All,

The questions were picked from http://www.trial-exams.com/

I request all of you to have a look yourself. I am saying so because there are many questions whose authenticity is questionable! Sad but true.

Example, one of the questions ask about Input to Distribute Info and upon clicking PMP it says wrong as the right answer is Communication Management Plan.

Another one says it is Discretionary Dependency where as I (like most of you except respected Pawarji Sir) felt it is mandatory.

As logical people like SS says, it is very important where do we choose our questions from is of utmost importance. I shall try to stick to my previous companion or Rita. Too many cooks spoils the broth!

Sorry friends and thanks for understanding.

Warmly, Kranti Kumar aka KK....

This time atleast project closure should be done complete  in all respect. -  Deliverables are not yet verified and accepted.

Why I chose Discretionary because Hard Logic and Mandatory are the same and both given in option.

Second while referring PMBOK  -  it is quite obvious that  - in given question, example is of really discretionary.

It is not inherrent activity, it is independent activity, keep little patience , read 2wice 3rice, fact will come out.

Its really agood question.

I appriciate your efforts and new tricks of reading PMBOK in real manner.

because when we get our answers are going wrong - we go back to PMBOK with our "ego and endurance" and then atleast we can study PMBOK in real sense.

Keep It up

Regards

I think we should delete this thread to avoid the confusion

Initially I thought, question no. 1 has two right anwsers mandatory dependencies and hard logic. But decided to proceed with mandatory dependencies. But after seeing the answer I went through the question again and got stuck up with the highlighted part in the question as below.

"You expect your project team members that the electronic test must be performed and passed before the lamp stands can be installed."

As per PMBOK, Definition of mandatory dependencies is

"Mandatory dependencies are those that are contractually required or inherent in the nature of the work. The project team determines which dependencies are mandatory during the process of sequencing activities. Mandatory dependencies often involve physical limitations, ....(PMBOK Guide Page 139)".

Here question says Project manager expects that the test must be performed before installation. In this case it is neither contractually required nor inherent in the nature of the work. So can't it be discretionary? Please let me know your toughts.....

Regards,

Rajesh

In PMBOK Reading Discetionary Dependency -

activities which are internal but free in nature

for example little think about a  piece of a chain - number of links are their in a chain and they connected by either side by 2 more links , the middle links means all links except the 1st one are mandatory you cant remove them.

Now if I tag a link like a locket in middle of that chain  or any where with any link.

This added link does not have any preceding link (or a bunch of links ) , and this independent (or free) in nature and thus it is discrete, and can be called as discretionary dependency.

further more this link may be removed from there and may linked little ahead, like testing activity may be done after erection, but it will add more risk but an example of fast tracking.

PMBOK says - there are other possible sequence for such activities and can be adjusted alternatively thats why called soft logic.

where as Mandatory could not be moved up or down, back or ahead, like a steel frame require concrete foundation.

Here without making concrte foundation first you cant erect steel frame. so concrete foundation is mandatory activity.

Dear KK,

I think more specific (best) answer for input to Distribute information is communication management plan. Please see section 10.3.1.1 in Page No. 259 in PMBOK guide. For me all questions seems to be authentic.

Rajesh

Can Rajesh or KK or who have access  put right answers of other all .

Respected Pawarji Sir,

The link is mentioned. You may want to click and see the answers as and when u have some time.

Going to this site would mean wastage of time. Many Q&A are not understood by me nor the QA are right either and to top it all, no clarification is given. Unless you know the reasons behind your wrongs, chances of improvement are scanty and far in-between.

These questions further compound your thought. And now I would rely, trust, practice from known and quality places :) :) :)
