Mary is a project manager at a consulting company. The company regularly builds teams to create products for clients. When the product is delivered, the team is dissolved and assigned to other projects. What kind of organization is she working for?

Above is a question in headfirst. Answer given is B while i chose C. I am not able to figure out why the answer is B. Since it happens in a functional organization that project is managed across product lines and different functional areas. The team may work in one project and is dissolved or move to other function areas once the project gets over. Isn't it a functional organization that Mary is working in?

The team is dissolved after the product is complete which is what happens in a projectized company. In funcational organization, people either do operational work in their department or they are borrowed by the project manager but after the project is over the team members go back to their functional departments. They are not assigned to other projects.

Mary is working in Projectized organization as People are working from one project to another project and they are not going back to functional department.

So the answer is same as given, B
