What to bring at the exam ?

I was wondering what to bring at the exam..

here is what I have in mind :

 

Required by pmi :

* My PMI paper that says "you re eligible to take the pmp exam"

* The Prometric appointment paper

* Two official ID with pictures

*Anything else ?

 

Other

* A calculator

* Pen

 

 

* I will wear layer clothes ( as most suggest )

* I will bring ear plug

Here is what I can tell you based on my experience:

1. You cannot carry ear plug, calculator, pen, pencil, wallet, drinking water etc inside. You can use the windows type calculator on the computer itself if you need that. They will supply you with pencil and paper for rough work and you will have to return it to them before you leave. On the desk they keep ear plugs that you can use.
2. Just enter prometric with copy of appointment letter (email copy) and two photo ID proof. They only check for your first name and surname.
3. Once you enter prometric center they will give you a locker box where you will have to lock down all your assets including wallet, personnel keys, medicines, paper, water etc. You can only keep with you two photo ID card and the locker key with you.
4. You can wear jacket which they will check for security reasons. It’s actually good to keep light jacket because the inside atmosphere is very quiet and cold.
5. You can take as many breaks as much you want, but keep in mind, the test timer does not stop. Every break will take 5-10 minutes extra since you will have to pass through security checking again.
6. Your result is displayed immediately after you finish the exam (after a small optional survey) and they give you confirmation receipt for the same.
7. You will receive PMP certification at your address in next 3-4 weeks. This certificate only mentions that you have passed the PMP exam and nothing else. Securing P, MP, BP are all to keep in side since PMP certificate will not mention these.

If you pass, from the test center is it possible to print the paper that show you have pass ?

Oh yes, and it’s part of their process to hand you printed receipt on white paper. Once you finish the exam you get an optional survey and after this you see a 4-5 words of text in your screen showing you passed or failed. That’s all the computer screen shows. Once you come out of the exam center, you will have to signout and hand over rough paper/pencil to the exam hall security and at that place they will give you result paper which will be printed on white paper. This will have information saying you appeared the PMP exam on so-date/time and have passed/failed the exam and proficiency level in each process group. This letter is issued by prometric and not PMI and hence it’s not official PMP certificate.

Can we take some edible like Buiscuits/chips etc while doing paper ?

You can definitely carry to the centre, but you will have to keep it in the locker. I have already said, you are not allowed to carry anything in the examination hall, except the locker key and photo ID proof. You can take a break, come out of exam hall, freshen yourself, and have those snacks/water. Once you are ready again, go through the security check again and resume the exam. While you do these, your exam timer keeps moving, so make sure you do good time management.

You can take anything till the centre but you will be asked to put everthing in the locker except your photo id and call letter, so not to worry on that front.

Rememeber don't wear any ornaments including wrist watch!

I was not allowed to even take the confirmation printout letter. I only carried my ID with me. As I chose to wear my jacket, I was asked not to take it out inside the exam cubicle so I wore my jacket all the time. During middle of the exam, if you change your mind to take out your jacket then you need to step out, drop the jacket and go thru the security check again
