Clarification on the Project Management Years of experience for PMP
Being a PMP aspirant i started to get the requirements for PMP. But i am still unclear. Request members for guidance
PMP Certification Eligibility Requirements:--
PMP Aspirant possess Baccalaureate(Bachelor's Degree)/equivalent university degree
a) 4500 hours of Project Management Experience
b) Three (3) years of Project Management Experience within the past eight-year period prior to the application
c) 36 unique (non-overlapping) months of Project Management experience
d) 35 contact hours of PM education.
Situation/query:--
I have bachelors degree, with work experience of more than 5.5 years in IT. So in terms of hours --> say 220 work days / year ( 220 * 8hrs/day)= 1760 hrs/year, For 5yrs ~8800 hrs. So i have something more than 4500 hours.
35 education hours can be earned. but what about Project management experience??
My designation isnt that of a project manager(PM) or of project /team lead(PL/TL). Does that mean i have to wait for my designation to arrive first and put my aspiration aside?
I have done technical pre-sales, requirements gathering, planning, interacting with multiple clients, implementation and ofcourse singing off for project completion. But it's with lower designation than what the PMI requires. My technical designation doesnt speaks of skills which i have already executed. How can i really plan for PMP? Please shed some light on this.
Thanks
