Verify Scope Question

Hello,

Why does the 'Verify Scope' does not output PMP update and OPA update? My doubt was that when there is how can CR be output without updating the PMP and OPA. All the Monitoring and Control processes have CRs as output. The CR is always accompanied by PMP updates, OPA updates and Project document updates. Verify Scope misses PMP updates and OPA.

May I know the reason. And why the CRs are always (Except in Verify Scope) accompanied by PMP and OPA? Why is this rule does not apply to Verify Scope?

Regards,

Rajesh

Hi Rajes,

Verfify scope process is to confirm deliverables from customer. The change request works on this process but earlier before verifying scope.

For Instance perform quality control will inspect deliverables from Direct and Managing process. If found any variances immediately will raise CR to correct it. After correction done, Perform Quality Control will inspect again and once it's confirm it's will be verified. During verification process PM meet customers to cross check on deliverables. Once the customers verified the change request raise. The reason of this change request is if the deliverables is not meet the acceptance on customer point of view. Assume the deliverables need some rework to be done. This is conclude the Verify scope. Hope this process explains your question Rajes.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for answering.

When the customer finds that the vendor has done something different than what is mentioned in the requirements, wouldn't that be a defect than a change request?

Assuming, the deed is different than requirement, is a CR, shouldn't we update the cost baseline, schedule baseline and jot down the lessons learned?

Regards,

Rajesh

Hi Rajes,

Yes defect should trigger via Change request in integrated chage control. If the changes approved, PM should adjust the baselines according latest requirements. Changes should reflect in schedule and cost baseline as well since the requirements is new to to the project. Any changes made in project management must have change to show as evidence. If there is significant change which impact baselines should pass through planning stage.

Hi Mike,

I will try to rephrase in a different way.

The Stakeholder (Customer) finds that his requirement is not met. So the PM raises a CR to correct the problem.

Thanks for your guidance,

Rajesh
