Passed 2nd attempt Feb 6,2012 - Failed PMP Exam Jan 18,2012

Hello everyone, I am new to this site and would like some feedback on how to pass the PMP exam on my 2nd attempt.


I read the PMBOK 3 times


Rita Mulcahy 7th edition twice


And did the following sample questions:


PMStudy: Average 70%


PM-Fast track average 65-75%


Head First - 78%


Leahman 175Q - 68%


My Score:


Initiating: MP


Planning: BP


Executing: MP


M&C: BP


Closing: BP


Can anyone tell me by looking at my score if I was close to passing? My instructor was shocked I failed and advised me take the exam again within 2 weeks while all the information is still fresh in my head.


PS, i just did the Exam Central sample test and scored 78%, that posted my confidence a bit


I am currently doing some review here and there and wanted some feedback

Looking at your score I am surprised why you failed?. Now spend time taking tests from reputed sites and try to analyze the weak areas and improve them and your score more to gain the confidence.

I was truly deviated when I failed; I thought I passed it for sure. I will re-group in take it again.

Passed 2nd attempt (Feb 6)


It’s with great pleasure that I announce that I have passed the PMP exam last night. Total different experience from the first attempt, but glad I am FINALLY PMP. Thanks to PM Zilla and all the support I have received on this site.


My score was MP across all domains


Best advice I can give at this point is DO AS MANY sample questions as possible!! As mentioned above below are the exams I took.

Head First

 Hello ExpressPMP,

I just took the PMP exam and received the same proficiency scoring that you posted 3 below prof and 2 moderately prof.  

How did you prepare on your second attempt?  I need to prepare a stategy and need some advice.  I read Rita's and took PMStudy and Lehman practice exams.  

How many practice exams did you do to prpare the second time around?

 Goldie, Sorry to hear that I am in the same boat, I am currently on an aggressive study plan PMBOK and Rita ITTO, and then some mocks.

What are you doing to prepare again?

 Hi - sorry for late response.  I just saw this thread.  I am doing as many practice questions on Rita's Fasttrack as possible.  In the last few days I took the following 2 mock tests and yesterday I took Lehman's 175 questions.  Scores are below.  I scheduled to take the exam on Wednesday, but will do a few more mock tests this weekend and see what my scores are by the end of the weekend.  I am nervous. :(

what about you?  when are you taking it again?  how are you preparing?

 

Rita’s PMP  (200 questions) – 76%

PMStudy Exam 3 (200 questions) – 75.43%

Lehman's 175 - 67%
