WBS – It’s a hierarchical structure where your break larger work to activities i.e. smaller, more manageable components. The planned work is contained within the lowest level WBS components, which are called work packages. A work package can be scheduled, cost estimated, monitored, and controlled. (Read PMBOK section 5.3)
RAM - A responsibility assignment matrix (RAM) is used to illustrate the relationship between work packages or activities (of WBS) and project team members. It’s a matrix format chart that shows all activities associated with one person and all people associated with one activity. This also ensures that there is only one person accountable for any one task to avoid confusion. One example of a RAM is a RACI (responsible, accountable, consult, and inform). (Read PMBOK page 221)
