Got my PMP application accpeted on 15th Dec 2012 and thus my eligibility period is till 15th Dec 2013. The next steps are to make the payment to get the PMP Eligibility ID

My question is - What will happen if I do not pay (decide not to take the exam) till 15th Dec 2013? What happens to the eligibility period? - Assuming it will expire, will I be able to re-apply and get the application accepted again?

I might just pay for it and schedule the exam only when I am a little prepared with the PMP
