How long should you wait after 1st failed attempt

 All,

I failed the first time, however I wasn't as disappointed as I thought I would because I feel like I prepared myself for the exam.   I read the PMBOK, Rita and materials I received from the course I took.  The one thing that I plan to do different is more mock test. I did 2-4-hour test from Rita and scores was low and only reviewed wrong answers on one mock exam.  I then wen on to do Scordo Test did well the second time around on those average about 70-72%. I did a few other free test online and felt good about taking the test.

My experience during the exam, I was relaxed and there was no anxiety. I thought the firsst 50 was not to difficult and then came the formulas, which I thought I had a good understanding, well they kind of threw me off a little bit so I skipped the ones that were time consuming and continued throught the exam There were about 20-25 formula related questions on my exam.  The last 100 questions was a little more difficult. But I finished the test with about 10 mins to review.  I only reviewed a few and time expired.

The results were not good.  I did not pass the first round, but I want to take it again with a different study approach and to meet the deadline before the PMBOK 5 test.

Thanks in advance

Tina

There is no recommended period or waiting time, When you think you are ready again, you can take the PMP exam. Take mock tests and check your scores, if you are scoring well then go for it.

Maybe you can give few days break and then start the studies again.

 Thank You....

I know people who cleared the exam 3-4 weeks after failing 1st attempt.

Take a week gap and start again..I will suggest not taking long gap as then

You tend to forget what you learned in previous preparation.

Keep your moral high, practice more new qns from sources like pmstudy, simplilearn etc

Remember it is difficult exam and people may fail..

All the best..

Hi,

There is no specific time limit of giving the exam as long as you have prepared for the exam yourself and have not taken the help of any training providers like PMstudy, Simplilearn, etc and abiding by their moneyback guarantee policy of the time duration within which you have to take the exam. Would suggets you to take your time and prepare well by taking some mock tests and preparing well from PMBOK 4th edition. I am sure you will be able to crack it the next time. Be relaxed and prepare well.

Hi,

There is no such time limit to give the exam as you have prepared yourself. There may be a need to give the exam in a specific time limit when you are abiding by moneyback guarantee policy of training providers such as PMstudy, Simplilearn, etc, from whom you have taken the training. I would suggest you to prepare well from PMBOK and give a few mock tests. Take your time, prepare well and you will surely crack it.

All the best.

Jeff

Please don't wait for too long before re-taking the exams. It is not advisable at all. Just read PMBOK 4th edition with more concentration and try to understand the concepts better. Thereafter take mock tests and review your answers with STRICT reference to the PMBOK. Good luck!.
