Started on May-01, 2010.
1. Read PMBoK - Nothing Understood.
2. Read RITA Book
3. Read PMBook
4. Practiced some questions from the Links given in PMZilla
5. From the gaps found from above step : Read PMBoK
6. Practiced PM Road Trip and PM Head First Questions
7. From the gaps found from above step : Read PMBoK
8. Practiced Oliver questions & PM Zilla Questions
9. From the gaps found from above step (HUGE GAPS) : Read PMBoK
10. Then Did PM Study

The above is the plan that I followed.

The below are the lessons learned :
To understand concepts, read RITA or if you have your instructor avialable, discuss with him.
Read only PMBoK, All Chapters, Appendix G, Glossary
PM Study,PM HeadFirst, RITA Questions are close to real exam.
OLIVER & PMZill 200 Questions will make us to read the corners of the PMBok. Means, 100% reading of PMBoK

The approach I followed while reading PMBoK,  Please Understand how the (I TT O ):
Estimate Time & Estimate Cost
Verify Scope & Quality Control
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
Identify Risks & Monitoring - Control Risks
Plan Risk Response - Procument
Develop Project Team, Manage Project Team
Manage Project Team & Manage Stakeholder Expectations.
Distribute Information & Report Performance
PMI Code of Coduct with Verify Scope, Procument all processes, Quality

Coming to Remembrance if (I TT O) : I have not done any specific plan or something for this.
Only I did is, whenever I read them, as per plan, I used to write on a paper.

Exam Time Environment :
Time is sufficient, I took 3 hrs 30 mins. I most of the questions two times each.

Thanks. I have read only PMBOK and have skimmed Rita so i was nervous despite doing good in practise exams.

Only PMBoK is more than sufficient. RITA we can use to understand concepts, if Instructor is not avialabe. So I read RITA book 3 motnhs back, did not re-opned after that .

Practice questions, if your exam is in near , pls go for PMSTudy practice test.

simplelearntest : 78%
PM Study Paid Test 2 : 81%
PM Study Paid Test 3 : 84%

Should I go for Exam ?

Seeking for your advice.

Thanking you in Advance.

Scores are good. Apart from study and practice, please plan how you will sit for 4 hrs.

do this practice at home , for 3-4 days before the exam, it will keep away our nerousness.

Like, if you schedueld your exam for 10:00am, just practice to answer 200 questions from 10:00am to 2:00pm.. observe, when you are feeling bore, feeling tired, gettign angry on questions all these while practicing the test"   This helped me a lot.

As long as you understand the concepts and how the process flows, you should be good to go.  One thing I really want to emphasize - do not memorize.  Understand the concepts, create a scenario in your mind, and apply the concepts in the PMBoK.   If you are a PM practioner, do not insist what's practical in your head - stick with the PMI.org concepts.

1)  Key concept: Do what's good for 1) the customer 2) then your organization.

2)  According to pmi.org, PM rules.  S/He is empowered to do anything, solve everything.  S/He seeks to solve and not be passive (that is a key concept).  The right answer is always the PM doing something, presenting a solution.  Avoid answers to situational questions that can be considered passive.

3)  Always be fair.  Key concept: "win-win".

4)  Important: Know the right tools and their application.  Example, why use a flowchart, run chart, pareto, etc.?  Which processes are they used for?  If you can answer those 2 questions, you are ready.

5)  Again, don't memorize, you need to understand the concepts instead.  Even the formula, no need to memorize if you understand their application - I am not kidding.

6)  Important: During the the exam,  take a 5-minute snack break after the first 75 questions (banana and nuts).  Breathe.  Inhale and slooowly exhale - Something about anxiety and adrenalin.  Key concept: Anxiety will prevent you from passing this marathon of an exam!

7)  Read the entire question.  There are subtle keywords that will direct you to the right answer.  Read all 4 answer options.  I noticed that there are always 1 in the set that tricks your mind into tripping you - avoid that 1 if you are guessing.  IF you are just guessing, try to pick the next best answer - chances are, they are trying to trick ya!

8)  Finally, get in the exam center knowing that you will pass. Be confident but not cocky.  Think of it like this exam is just formalities in receiving your certificate.  Hard to explain but I really think it's the anxiety of taking the exam that makes this certification "SO" difficult.... it really is not.

These are just concepts from a defined book - the PMBoK. Not trivializing, just putting things in perspective.
