Passed PMP 1st Attempt 6/18/2013 High Level Lessons Learned

With hard work, God, and passion, KNOW you can do this. Do NOT take this exam lightly or you will be humbled. I am educated & experienced and it was the hardest and most challenging examination mentally/physically & spiritually I ever took. Key things.

  • Memorize the ENTIRE process chart. If you have not done so already, do that. I can give you some tips if need be
  • Memorize the formulas & practice doing multiple calculations from them
  • Practice a timed 15 minute dump of both EVERY DAY BEFORE THE EXAM
  • Do NOT memorize ITTO's. Get an understanding of what happens in each process, and KEY Inputs, Outputs, & T&T's. Ones in Time, Quality & Risk are especially critical. Learn these and keyword them
  • Key Wording. For example: To Differentiate from Focus Groups a Facilitated Workshop has CROSS FUNCTIONAL STAKEHOLDERS etc
  • Know the Theories. X, Y, Ouchi, Maslow, etc Again, KEYWORD
  • Grab a notebook and identify key definitions and key T&T's for all 42 processes one by one. For example, Risk>Sensitivity Analysis, etc. (Create your own notes!!! Use others as a supplement!!!!)
  • When reading the exam questions, look for KEYWORDS to differentiate
  • Manage your time.
  • Take PM Study 1,2, 3, and 4. Over 80% goal on ALL of them. I don't suggest bouncing from place to place as you will get discouraged and confuse yourself. After finishing each test go over EVERY SINGLE QUESTION RIGHT OR WRONG

Pray to God and give yourself plenty of time. Don't rush scheduling. Do it when you have confidence. Because at times during the exam you will lose confidence and get tired and frustrated on many questions. Your hard work & training and mind will lead you to the right one. Choose it with confidence and move to the next one

For this blessing of passing I am willing to give back
