Advantages & Disadvantages of PMP Certification

I am in a consturction industry working as a Planning Engineer (Qualificaiton -BE-Civil & MBA), I need to know the advantages and disadvantages of the PMP Certification. 

May be due to I failed in my first attempt of the  PMP exam 4th edition this doubt araise in me. 

Can anyone cleary or advice me on this subject.

PMP Exams demonstrates about your knowledge on Project Management under all scenario right from fundamentals to decision making in complex condition.


If you are qualified and with your learnings, you can handle your projects in better manner nad give proper advice or recommendations to the Project Manager for the appropriate decision.


If you have failed in your attempts, it gives clear indication where to improve ourselves and move ahead.


PMBOK standards are generally accepted by majority and their experience counts for innumerable success projects in the world and chances of failure are remote if you adhere to these good practices.


Management definitely recognizes the talent if you deliver the things and gives you opportunity for taking up higher responsibilities.


Therefore to conclude, it is necessary to clear PMP exams which will boost our confidence to perform better in the Organization. I do agree, Majority of Construction companies across India do not understand the importance of PMP Certification but the results we produce using these concepts will tell the truth and force them to resort to better practices.

My view,

So the PMP exams are an extra qualification to an individual for to participate in the decision making with reference to the PMBOK. 

I really had a doubt that is there an any oppurtunity for us with the PMP badge in India?

I am doubtful that construction industry don't have that much though i am working abroad, here my company sponsored me for to take up the theory class this may not happen in india.

Hopefully for my future requirement and  to standardize the process this may direct me, and it helps me to serve the best to the company , isn' t so?

I need to take u p PMP exam !!!
