Job Offer

You are a project manager in an IT company. You have recently received an offer as a project manager in a construction company offering a 25% salary hike. You have excellent technical knowledge in the IT field, but do not have much exposure to the construction industry. In this context,

Choice 1 You should attend training classes related to the construction industry to get more technical expertise in the field.

Choice 2 You should not take up the assignment, because you will lose out on the experience and skills gained in the IT field.

Choice 3 You should take up the assignment, because project management skills required in the construction company are similar to those required in the IT field.

Choice 4 You should try to get more information about project management in the construction industry and then make an informed decision about whether to take up the new opportunity.

it might fall into - Cost - Risk - or ethics section - I think we can rule out Ethics because we are not hiding or doing anything against law. cost wise it will be definitely good if we take the job - then coming to risk - that is taking the Job - fist I will do an impact assessment then plan a mitigation - so I think it should be choice 4 - choice 3 - choice 1 -

Let me know your comments

Choice 3 is the answer as per PMI you can execute project in any vertical..i am not 100% sure with reality but........it is PMI

Anyone else more inputs on this one?

The PM must have already studied about project management in the construction industy when he/she prepared for the job interview. Now is the time for yes/no decision.

Choice 3.

Regards.
