5.2.2.9 Benchmarking
5.2.2.9 Benchmarking
Benchmarking involves comparing actual or planned practices, such as processes and operations, to those
of comparable organizations to identify best practices, generate ideas for improvement, and provide a basis for
measuring performance. The organizations compared during benchmarking can be internal or external.

Process Analysis
can someone explain why it is not process analysis as this tool and technique is also for continuous improvement. ALso since process improvement primarily occurs in executing , the answer should be from executing..

Bench marking is correct
Hi All,
I will select BenchMarking over "Process Analysis" because the PM is "developing" Process Improvement plan. "Developing" is the keyword here. Process Imrovement plan is developed in Plan Quality Management. In that Bench marking is the TT.
In Execution phase "Perform Quality Assurance" having the "Process Analysis" as TT. This Process Analysis is used to revisit the processes improvement plan and improve. The improved prcoess are updated in the Output "Process Management updates"

I too agree that this has to be Benchmarking
but final call is PMI's and PMI says, process analysis.

PMI is right, benchmarking is
PMI is right, benchmarking is used when you want to compare your company against competition, or compare your project against other projects in your company. It's like Samsung always do with Apple, they compare the product quality and customer satisfaction numbers to see how they are doing. Process Analysis is just focused on your project, analyzing how is your process doing comparing it with your Process Improvement Plan and find how you can improve some repetitive activities inside your own project.
