Passed PMP exam

Just want to share my lesson learnt here with happy ending. I passed PMP exam yesterday with 1-P and 4-MP. It was a tough time for me the 2nd time and I was really afraid before the result. I am preparing since 5 months and I made so many lesion learnt especially when I failed for the first time around 2 months before. Here is what I would recommend:

Preparation: Keep 3-4 months of time to read and understand PMP books. Rita and Headfirst is excellent reference books. However the turning point is always PMBOK so make sure you end up in understanding PMBOK every line and you may require reading it 2-3 times.

Mock Tests: I have tried almost all the one I saw here but I would recommend Rita Fast Track, Pmstudy and Pmpforsure. Do not worry for the low score, just make sure you learn from the mistake and move ahead.

Please do not run for quick things like quick recap notes or small notes, this will make your leaning scope smaller and eventually you will fail. PMP exam is not that simple and anything from PMBOK can be a PMP questions, so make sure you end up in reading entire books and not some quick notes.

I wish good luck to everyone here.

Pankaj

Dear Friend,
Congrats and thanks for sharing LL.

Thanks everyone for the wishes.

I used the Rita FT 7th version and even old version of headfirst that is based on PMBOK-4. I guess you can get these old copies easily. PMP Exam Prep Manual (Edwel) and PMBOK-5 were the latest one I referred.

From mock exam perspective most of the exams available online (Pmstudy, Pmpforsure etc) are in sync with PMBOK-5.

Pankaj
