How to Account for Defect/Rework
Submitted by Lorenz on Tue, 02/04/2014 - 06:53
Hi friends. How do we account for the defects and reworks in terms of schedule and cost planning? When we create the WBS the first time, we usually don't plan for reworks. The same is true for cost planning. Do we rebaseline for every defect we encounter, or do we use the contingency reserve since defects can be identified as risks? Thanks.

You will not rebaseline for
You will not rebaseline for every defect you encounter . There is a some % of rework you should have factored in your schedule based on your company PCB data.
If defects are more than expected, then you will estimate for entire defects and rebaseline the project plan.

Hi Admin,
Hi Admin,
You mean to say factor into the schedule as well as in _budget_, correct?
Thanks.

Correct me if I am wrong, but
Correct me if I am wrong, but defect repairs fall under the cost of quality. Therefore this threshold should be defined and documented in quality mgmt. plan
