Failed in 1st Attempt

I sat on 9th June but could not get it through. Got 4 MPs and 2 BPs. I did prepare for enough time but guess was not sincere enough. Did not understand all concepts and got confused in formulas also.
I did find exam quite tough. now planning to attempt again next month.I request you guys for some tips & tricks especially who cleared in 2nd attempt.

How long you study and what material you used?

Read Rita 2 times but not PMBOK properly. Gave 3 mock exam as well.
There was gap in understanding and I was seeing it clearly in exam.

Dont stress out about failing the 1st attempt. Just chalk it up as a lesson learned. You can take the exam up to 3 in one year from the first test. Just need to keep at it with questions. Focus on where you are weak. Try a PMP Exam http://pmhigherlearning.com/pmpexam-1/ that breaks it down to see where you are strong or weak at. Focus on the weak areas a lot!

4 MP 2 BP?? It has to be 3 MP and 2 BP. This situation is very tricky.. one of my friends passed the exam with 3 MP and 2 BP.

Hi - newbie here. What do you mean by MP and BP?

P :Proficient
MP :Moderately Proficient
BP :Below Proficient

Hi

please do not get dishearten by first attempt result. it is not clear about your preparation time or study material and study methods you used. however i would suggest to spend some quality time in going through other exam takers preparation experiences, study plans, study material etc. Everyone has different mode of study or mode of understanding concepts which suits him/her. Going through exam takers experiences will help you to choose the better mode of learning for your self and also highlight few gaps in your preparations.

I have documented my experience in details at blog. I hope you will find it useful. do read various forums and experiences.

Having a good grasp of the fundamentals PMP concepts is very important. Do not sit a PMP exam again if you feel your understanding of fundamentals can be improved.
Also formulas and exercises can be very important to pass the PMP exam: these free PMP exam questions can help you understand were you stand with fundamental concepts, exercises and formulas.

I have started using this forum since june. I started liking this forum as see many users sharing their professional experiences and exam preparation in a professional way.

I read your post in this forum. I am sorry to read about your results. I took the exam yesterday for the first time and failed. I am very disappointed with the results as failure is something that is looked upon by me as a big no. But I am positive I will come out of this feeling gradually. I was counting on this credential to make myself marketable as I am looking for pm related jobs.I read all the replies to your post on this topic and have some idea on what the next steps must be as regards preparation for second try and use of free resources for additional practices questions.

Here is how my preparation was for the first time:
My efforts started in mid April after my application process ended.I had a study plan to cover 1 knowledge area per week thoroughly.I was challenged all the way through to keep a rigor of 3 hours every day due to family commitments and my own distractions to stay focused due to becoming a student after a long gap .The last 10 days my study time per day increased to 10 hrs a day with 100% concentration.
- read pmbok book twice.
-prepared flash cards
-reviewed cards during my exercise time at the gym
-listened to prepcast lectures once.
-took 3 simulator exams from pm simulator.
-read Rita's book once and answered questions from rita book for risk, quality, time and scope mgmt areas.
I felt that exams questions were easy to handle but i caught myself with taking more time per question so ended up rushing through the last one hour of the exam to answer more than 120 questions left to finish.I secured MP for planning and rest BPs.
I am looking for some sort reassurance that its ok to take the exam second time and the timeline to retake. I feel that no one's reply can validate this better and in a candid way as you are faced with the same dilemma. Thank you and look forward to hearing your next steps. Please dont feel obligated to answer or share your views but if I you do, I would greatly appreciate it.

Tawnie do't lose hope also for me i failed in my first attempt in 1/5 and i re study in 1 month and in 19/6 i passed so keep pushing and you will make it .

Thank you aliahmed . I read one more fail from one candidate a minute ago and I am feeling scared to attempt again. Are you suggesting to go for second attempt within one month after 1st try?

i suggest u to study hard ,solve as many mocks u can (recommended u 300 tough questions pmzila) then if u'r confident is high go head because if late u will lose the momentum and still u'r information still fresh .
