Difference between audit and inspection

Hi All,

Can any one tell me why is the correct answer inspection here and not audit?

The method of examining work or product to determine whether it conforms to documented standards is called?

a) Inspection
b) Statistical Sampling
c) Audit
d) Verification

Explanations:

Answer (a) Inspection. Inspection is the examination of work or product to determine whether it conforms to documented standards. It is also called peer reviews, reviews audits, or walkthroughs. Inspection can be done at any level in the project and can also be used to validate defect repairs

An audit is an examination of a process. For example; You audit the methodology and/or interval of how you select the product to inspect. You audit that the design steps you followed were done correctly per your documented process.

The inspection is the process of making sure it meets your pre-determined standards. Is it the right size, color, weight etc.

To simple explain, remember QA/audit mainly for process, QC,inspection for product/the work/deliverable
