Randy is managing a project and identifies that there are 8 stakeholders in the project. He is worried that he might end up with an unmanageable number of communication channels. In your view, how many communication channels does Randy have to plan for?
64 channels
56 channels
8 channels
28 channels
Can anyone explain with answer also will we include Randy or exclude him?

When Randy says - there are 8
When Randy says - there are 8 stakeholders in his project, it includes himself(simply becoz he's PM and hence a stakeholder himself).
so answer is 28
don't get tricked by such Qn wordings.

28
n(n-1)/2 = 7 * 8 / 2 = 28
As for counting the project manager, I think he'd be incompetent if he hadn't taken himself into account from the start.

Hi Dipti - that's why I said
Hi Dipti - that's why I said don't get tricked by such Qn.
we need to pay attention to wording of the Qn. if the queation would have said - 'there are 8 other stakeholders' ; then it was appropriate to add the PM into calculations. However this is not the case here.
Qn simply says there are 8 stakeholders
