Pmp certified December 20, 2014
Got a mail from pmi yesterday night stating I passed the exam. Really excited right now.
I wrote the pbt exam December 20, 2014. We started pretty late and I finished right on time. There was no time for review, the shading kind of slowed me down since I practiced mostly for computer based test. I'm so glad I joined this forum as I used so many people's LL as benchmark which helped greatly.
my appreciation to all those who took their time to put down there LL, it helped me prepare and boosted my confidence towards the exam and the person who thought of coming up with this forum, many thanks to you.
i prepared using the following materials:
- Pmbok ( read it twice before the exam, had a better understanding of the book during the second read).
- Rita ( schemed through, the only reason I used Rita was because i was practicing with the simulation exam and figured some questions didn't have references in PMbok e.g motivation theory)
- headfirst ( this was my dictionary, if I didn't understand a term in pmbok, I refered to headfirst, it was scenario based with so many visuals that was easy to remember, it had pictures of the wbs dictionary, charter etc)
for the practice exams I used:
- Rita simulation exam : this helped a lot, especially when timing yourself
- corneliys fitchner: I subscribed to the mailing list, solved 15 questions everyday.
- pmzilla 200q tough: got this a week to my exam, pretty hard but helped a lot.
I got a lot of calculation questions, especially on communication, next was the earned value management, you must be able to figure out which is EV, BAC, SV etc. had nothing on ethics and so many scenario based questions and "what next" questions.
even though I wrote down the 47 processes on scrap paper, figured out I didn't need it for the exam.
I guess that's about all.

Congratulations
Congratulations on passing the PMP.
Your comment suggests that you did not pass the PMP test with an onsite test at a Prometric center.
Could you tell all of us how you were tested if it was not at an official Prometric site?
Thank you.

Thank You Richard,
Thank You Richard,
yes I didn't use an onsite centre because I wrote the paper based test. Pmi has made exam centres available for pbt depending on the state you are located and the date you scheduled for the exam.
the pbt is usually written on Saturdays at different locations recommended by PMI and they are verified by PMI as suitable for use. Individuals can't decide where there pbt exams will be written, they can only choose from available options recommended by PMI.
I hope that answers your question?

Thank you.
Thank you.
I was so glad with the quick response to my mail in request for the materials.
Had a score of 115/200 in the 200 tough questions. Pretty tough though but it helped a lot. I couldn't finish the bonus 100Q, I just went through the answers and took notes of new terms.

Thanks,
Thanks,
I would recommend the CBT any day. Would have gone for the CBT but CBT was banned in my country and had to opt for PBT.
Most of my practice exams was computer based so at the real exam I did find it difficult initially because shading did take time, I wished there was some way to practice that before the exams.
I was trying to be careful not to shade outside the box and at the same time I was trying to be ahead of time. It was kind of difficult because i was multitasking: reading the questions and shading simultaneously, by the time I looked at my shading sheet, I would have shaded three options and had to start erasing wrong options.
I Made this mistake for five different questions and I just had to take a break and come up with another strategy to keep up with time.
unfortunately, there was no other strategy than to do it one after the other.
