Question - on Reward

I would like to have your comment on this question

----

You managed a project with over 60 team members to design a new sports car. In the project kickoff meeting you assured the team that good performers would be rewarded. At the project closing meeting, you only awarded incentive bonuses to two team members. A client who was present asked why only two team members were rewarded with bonuses. What did you miss while defining rewards and recognition ?

A. You did'nt realize recognizing cultural differences may offend people

B. You defined objectives on work that was supposed to performed

C. You set criteria for rewards that made the team over confident

D. You made the targets unachievable on the project

Which do you think would be the bettwer answer, and why ?

A - Is out since the question does not say anything on cultural diff

B - Is out since You have not really define any objective. You only said 'good performers'

C - Is out since nothing speficied on team confidence or any indication that they were over confident.

The answer would be D. Since you gave the reward to only 2 members from the 60 member team. As per PMBOK the reward criteria should be such that it is achievable and all members have a fair chance to earn the reward.

I hope that helps.

Little question :
You said this :
"B - Is out since You have not really define any objective. You only said 'good performers'"

I thought this would be a great answer, this is not really clear.. I think it would be good to know what is a good performer ? no ?

The term 'good performer' is very generic and cannot be measured. There is no defined attribute etc which will help to determine this - It is very subjective.

B. You defined objectives on work that was supposed to performed

Everyone is supposed to be a good performer. what does good performer mean?   what was the critria? do your job?
