PMP or CAPM
Hi All,
I am currently IT service Management industry and looking for a change in domain to project management. I attempted PMP exam twice in year 2013 and 2014 for the fifth version and couldnot clear it.I am new to project management field with out much practical experience in handling the projects.I thought I could clear the exam but couldnot. I applied a lot for the Project Coordinator/PMO/Associate PM roles to get a on hand experience of the same unfortunately all the employers ask for PMP certification and PM experience.
Since I failed twice for the exam, I am now kind of scared now to write the exam again as I fear failure again and I feel for an inexperienced (in Project Management) like me PMP is like a huge leap.Thats when the thought about CAPM came into my mind.As per my knowledge CAPM is more on conceptual questions and less scenario based and experienced ones and felt I will be able to clear it.
When I checked with few of my seniors and colleagues, they informed that being CAPM certified is nt going to add any value and bring any change as it is not of much value like PMP.
Right now I am confused on which I need to write.I very badly want to get into Project Management Field and aspire to be in a PM role one day.Can you please advise what step I need to Take so that I can pursue what I aspire?
Thanks in Advance
