PMP Application - Defining Hours

Hello Everyone,

I was hoping to gain your insight on a dilemma I'm having when assigning the hours I've worked to a particular phase.

Here is my example...

Say I was the PM for a 13 month long project.  Working 8 hours per day, this equates to 2080 work hours.  What I'm confused on is should my 5 PM phases be based on those 2080 work hours?  I ask because, like most of you, I am sure you're not always doing PM work.  In this project, I also did BA work and then QA testing during the validation phase of our SDLC.

So, all told, I really worked say 1500 hours doing actual PM tasks.

Do you recommend I go with defining my hours per phase based on the 1500, or should it be the 2080 (based on the project length).  I'm probably over thinking it, but I'm sure someone else has been in this situation before.  Thank you.

It need not be on all phases. Even if you have worked for 2000 hours on initiation that is also fine. You dont have to cover all LC phases.

Use your best judgement to decide the hours. Ultimately in the end you should be able to justify with proof when audited. if you can get the proof from your employer that should be enough

Thanks.  That helps me out!
