Hi All,

Cleared PMP Certification Exam  today.

 Thanks a lot for all the information in this site. It really helped.

Here are my lessons learnt:

Preparation:

- Had attended the training in October 2010 and took the exam now. This is not good and I honestly advise you guys to take the exam within a month after the training.

- Prepared for 3 weeks at a stretch

- Rita Mulcahy's Book ( I read this book 3 times)

- PMBOK Version 4

- Tests found online including PM Zilla, head first PMP, Oliver Lehmann

Exam:

- Not very tough but not easy. It really tests your practical knowledge and application skills of what you have learnt.

- Initial few questions were confusing but had marked them for review. After about 20 questions I found my rhythm and it was a good feeling after that

- Finished the 200 questions in 2 hours. (as I had marked many for the review)

- I spent remaining 1.5 hours reviewing questions which I had marked for review.

- Relax during exam as it helps you to focus and pick the right answer. Do not panic if you find some questions which you find it difficult to answer. mark them for review and come back again after you finish all the questions

- I was really tense after I clicked the end button and was filling the feedback about the whole experience

Overall a very nice experience !! Glad I took the exam.

Tips:

- Rita Mulcahy's book was really helpful. Highly recommended.

- DO NOT forget to read the last chapter of Rita's book few days before exam or better even before  taking mock exams.

- Ensure you understand the reasoning behind the correct answer

- PMBOK must be studied thoroughly.Small little statements may appear as exam questions. Please do not forget to read the Glossary section as well.

- Make notes as you study Rita's book as it really enhances your understanding and helps you to remember many things at the exam

- Do not forget to take 2 or 3 tests of 4 hours similar to that of an exam. This really helps you to focus during exam

- 175 questions of oliver lehmann is very good and please attempt them as part of your mock exam.

- Be prepared to have your own time strategies based on how you fare in mock exams.
